The House

Originally the site of a traditional ‘taipa’ built quinta typical to the area, the house was transformed into its current form in 2000 with the addition of the sleeping quarters lined up on either side of the old house to form a ‘T’ shape. In 2021 the house was extensively renovated to bring it up to date and it has been transformed into a property that has maintained its traditional feel but has also been modernised so that it can also welcome its guests comfortably and generously.

Living

The house opens onto a wide entrance hall, with a guest cloakroom off to the left before you enter the main living area, which is open plan. The high ceilings are open to the rafters with exposed beams to allow for a feeling of space and light to flow through the house. 

Dining

The large dining table can seat up to 14 people, which is ideal for when the weather or season does not allow for eating outdoors.

Cooking

Central to the kitchen area is a large island which accommodates the induction hob. The kitchen also has an oven, a dishwasher, a microwave, and a large two-door American fridge. It is also well- stocked with small kitchen appliances like toasters, hand mixers and blenders, so whether you are going to bake, blend or barbecue you will find the right tools for the job. A pantry room just off from the kitchen provides an ideal place for storing extra provisions.

Sleeping

The house has five bedrooms and can sleep 10 people.

East Wing

On the East wing there is a twin bedroom (2x beds 90×200) and a double bedroom ( 1 bed 180×200 that can also be configured into 2x 90×200 beds) There is a large, separate bathroom with walk-in shower. The double bedroom on the East Wing has a double bed (180×200) and ensuite with shower.

West Wing

There are two bedrooms on the West wing of the house. One is a double room (1x double bed 180×200) and an ensuite bathroom with a shower, the other is a twin bedroom (2 beds 90×200) with an ensuite bathroom with a shower.

Outside

The house has traditional verandas along the East and West sides with armchairs and benches which provide spaces that are perfect for curling up with a good book or enjoying a nap in the shade ( Not yet) . If you step out of the double doors at the far end of the living area, you find the outdoor entertainment area. The ample sofa seating provides ideal space for relaxing together under the shade of the pergola. There are two dining tables also situated under the pergola that can seat 12 people.  The buffet table at the end of this area provides ample grill space when it is barbecue time. This is the perfect spot for outdoor living. There is no need to buy lemons, as there is even a small orchard of citrus trees in the garden!

Poolside

Set back a few metres walk from the house is the swimming pool area. The pool is generously proportioned ( 15m dimension 7m dimension) with roman steps that lead into a depth of 1,20 m at the shallow end which then slopes to 1,80m at the deep end. It benefits from the sun all day long, and the water is usually a very pleasant temperature in summer.  At the poolside there is a choice of pool loungers, parasols, and spaces to lie back and relax. There is a poolside shower. Pool towels are provided 1 p/guest p/week. If accessing from the garden side there is a fence with a small gate for access, although as a safety consideration children should always be watched.

Surrounds

The property is situated only 10 kilometres from the well-known fishing village of Zambujeira do Mar and 14 kilometres from the charming village of Sao Teotonio. Some of the best beaches of the Alentejo Littoral are to be found nearby. The Costa Vicentina features some of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal much loved by surfers, as well as many kms of scenic trails to explore, winding through the natural park. Songbirds abound in the region and are a joy to listen to, making the location perfect for some switch off time, but a real spectacle awaits you when the sun starts to drop: the Alentejo’s golden sunsets are legendary as are the star-studded night skies!

The twin/double bedroom can be made out as either 2 singles or a double bed (please request); all the bedrooms wooden shutters to block the light
The bathrooms have rain showers as well as a handheld shower; towel heaters & hair dryers are also provided
Cot & highchair on request
Mosquitos are not an issue in the region, nevertheless anti-mosquito plug-in gadgets are supplied as well as citronella candles for the terraces
Central heating (pellets) and logs for the fireplace (enclosed) are provided for winter rentals
TV in living room with MEO channels
WIFI is available throughout
There are some table games & reading books at the property which guests are welcome to enjoy
The indoor kitchen has a cooking island with induction hob, other equipment includes an electric oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, juicer, handheld mixer, coffee maker, large fridge/freezer & larder

Shaded carport for several cars and an EV charging station

July & August: €600/night

General Booking & Cancellation Terms

Minimum 7 night stay with flexible change overs in July & August; more flexible rest of the year?
Check-in after 16:00 hours & check-out before 10:00 hours
No parties for more than full capacity & strictly no smoking indoors (penalty equal to security deposit)

Non-refundable rental deposit of 30% required to reserve the property
Rental balance due 6 weeks prior to start date of rental, not refundable after this date
Security deposit of €1,000 to be paid in advance of rental (to be held by the booking agent) – this amount minus any applicable charges is refundable at the end of the holiday
